How to Replicate the Doula Project


Our hopes

One day we would like to think that there will be a Volunteer Doula Service in every part of the country providing essential support during pregnancy for some of the most disadvantaged or isolated women in our society.  

Our offer

We have developed a comprehensive tool package to support you in your project start up covering all essential areas.  Due to the funding provided by the Department of Health, we are looking to work with eight areas within England over the next three years. 

This funding enables us to support you to set up a service in your area and covers:

Project Establishment

Identification and facilitation of key relationships with Commissioners - Support with the development of a local Steering Group - Building relationships with schools of Health and Midwifery and local colleges. - Provision of a bespoke software and management database, accessed through this website - Access to OCN Accredited Training Centre - Membership of an emerging national network, branding and right to use the Goodwin name and links to the Goodwin Volunteer Doula Service website - Marketing and Communications Strategy

Human Resource Expertise

Supply of adverts, job descriptions, and person specifications - Recruitment and selection of ‘founding staff’ - Staff induction programme - Volunteer Recruitment - Volunteer Training Programme - Train the Trainer Programme

Volunteer Impact Assessment

At the end of the years' support a volunteer Impact Assessment is provided to enable you to assess how effective the service is being implemented, enable you to make adjustments to the service and influence key funders as to longer term funding.
