    Hull Primary Care Trust (PCT) was formed on 1st October 2006 and serves a population of some 250,000 across the city. The PCT employs around 1500 staff in a range of areas including district nursing, health visiting, school nursing and family planning. Responsible for a budget of £423 million in 2008/09, the PCT also buys (‘commissions’) other health services on behalf of local people, such as hospital treatment and mental health care. The organization works closely with the city’s GPs, dentists, pharmacists and optometrists to ensure the best possible range of primary health care services is available for local people.

    The PCT became eligible for Teaching status in May 2007 in recognition of its commitment to workforce development and lifelong learning.
